Did you ever wonder what happens after you say "YES" to donation when obtaining or renewing your Connecticut or Massachusetts driver's license? Your decision to become a donor is held in a donor registry database accessible by the organ procurement organization (OPO). If you become eligible to give the gift of life through donation, the OPO will consult the donor registry. If you are registered as a donor and have a red heart on your driver's license or state ID card, this is considered first-person consent for both organ and tissue donation. It is very important for your family to know your wishes about donation. If you do become eligible to donate, your family will most likely be the best source of information about your medical and social history and LifeChoice will need their help to determine your suitability as an organ and/or tissue donor. Please remember that it is important to discuss your decision about donation with your family.
You can also register on-line by CLICKING THE LOGO, this is seperate from the CT. DMV or MA. RMV.
